Enjoy the Outdoors This Spring

While we admit there’s never a bad time of year to visit the Central Coast, there’s something special about the spring time, when longer, warmer days encourage more time spent outdoors surrounded by blooming flowers and lush greenery. Luckily, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities to experience here, especially along the Highway 1 Discovery Route. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway for two or a spring break trip for the whole family, these outdoor activities make for a perfect Highway 1 spring vacation!

Cycle the Central Coast

Whether you’re a gifted athlete or an entry level cyclist, the Central Coast offers miles of cycling routes for every level. Cycle Central Coast provides information on scenic rides in and around the area, as well as a calendar of upcoming events, like April’s Wildflower Century ride and Eroica California. For those looking for the ride of a lifetime, don’t miss the Highway 1 Adventure Route 2.0!

View Wildlife in Natural Surroundings

Highway 1 offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities anywhere, providing plenty of chances to see elephant seals, whales and other animals at various viewing spots along the way. Stop at the Elephant Seal Vista Point area to watch elephant seals as they sunbathe, look for migrating grey whales from the designated Whale Trail viewing spots or take a forest walk to spot unique birds. There’s a plethora of wildlife to see that make the Central Coast their home.

Explore the Coast by Sea

There’s no more thrilling way to experience the coast than from the sea. Whether you rent a kayak to explore the coves or cruise around on your own stand-up paddleboard, getting out on the water makes for a fun and unforgettable adventure. You may even have the chance to get up close and personal with sealife not viewable from land!

Practice Yoga in Cambria

For a calming way to enjoy the outdoors, take your yoga mat outside for a yoga session on the sand or in nature. Tula Yoga offers daily yoga in Cambria, as well as private yoga sessions on the beach, while nearby Vanaspati Yoga encourages taking your practice outdoors for a yoga experience inspired by nature.

Experience Spring’s Wildflowers

Hike through the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve to experience Spring in full bloom. This property along Highway 1 offers plenty to see, including scenic vistas, native plants and an abundance of wildflowers. Plan to join a docent-led walk or bring a picnic and hike the photographic trails on your own — just be sure to pack your camera!

Take a Leisurely Beach Walk

Moonstone Beach, directly across from the Cambria Inns Collection, is a mile-long boardwalk perfect for enjoying the surrounding scenery. Take a leisurely stroll to let the sea breezes and fresh ocean air invigorate your senses while you enjoy unobstructed views of the ocean. It’s a great place to slow down and unwind while enjoying the simple pleasures of the outdoors.

Now’s the time to take advantage of the great outdoors with a Spring trip to the Central Coast and let the Cambria Inns Collection be your home base. As an added incentive, we’re offering 15% off during your stay at any of our properties along Moonstone Beach, valid April 1 through April 30, 2018.
