Cambria Scarecrow Festival
Every October the population of Cambria increases by a few hundred…but none of them are actually human…welcome to the Cambria Scarecrow Festival!
History of the Festival
In 2008, October in Cambria got a little scary…or should we say scarecrow-y! The brainchild of a local resident started as a simple festival with only thirty scarecrows and has grown into a community event with hundreds of scarecrows all over Cambria. The hard work of local artists, students, residents, and businesses have taken this humble farm icon and transformed it into a full blown artistic competition for the most delightful exhibits with the most creativity displayed. Scarecrows in Cambria might look surprisingly human, as some of the local Cambrians inspire versions of themselves strategically placed. Don’t be surprised if the ‘person’ you are talking to doesn’t answer you…or isn’t actually a person! Now in its ninth year, the Cambria Scarecrow Festival has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, ABCNews.com, and Huffington Post.
