Of course, nothing beats playing at the beach and the San Simeon State Park has a lovely cove where you can enjoy the water with shelter from the winds. Highway 1 Road Closure: A major attraction to California, the Highway 1 coastal route offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the remarkable coast communities along the way.  But, sometimes the iconic road trip you planned takes a different route.
