Eroica California comes to Cambria
After the holidays have passed and January has made its debut, life in Cambria tends to slow down a bit. It offers a little breather before gearing up for another year of fun events and happenings in and around Cambria. This year, 2019 promises even more fun when the town of Cambria hosts the Eroica California bike ride this April.
On April 6-7, Cambria will welcome Eroica California for a whole weekend of activities for cyclists and bike enthusiasts. Riders will have the chance to test their endurance and skills as they cycle through the most picturesque areas of the Central Coast.
History of Eroica
Founded in Italy in 1997 by Giancarlo Brocci, L’Eroica was established to reconnect others to the heritage that inspired much Italian history, literature, and culture, while serving as a foundation to protect and preserve the gravel roads in Tuscany. Today, Eroica is a new American tradition, welcoming cycling enthusiasts and bike collectors to the Central Coast for a weekend of challenging rides and spirited events in celebration of the adventurous pastime of cycling.
Schedule of Events
The main event, the Eroica Classic, will be held on Sunday, April 7. Riders will experience the beauty of the California coastline from four different routes, ranging from 35 to 110 miles. The day before, on April 6, there’s NOVA Eroica, a challenging new group ride with timed segments — only open to road and gravel bikes.
The fun continues in Cambria with barbeque parties before and after rides, special dinners and live music. The swap meet will feature vintage bicycles and more, and be open to the public and all festival attendees. Ten Italian vendors
from Italy will be on hand to display their goods at the swap meet, alongside vendors from up and down the West Coast. There’s no better place to be for any cycling enthusiast.
Whether you come for the Eroica ride or plan to watch the cyclists from the sidelines, April in Cambria is a beautiful time to visit. You’ll have your choice of Cambria hotels when you stay at the Cambria Inns Collection along Moonstone Beach, including Blue Dolphin Inn, Sand Pebbles Inn, Moonstone Cottages and Castle Inn.
