Fall is nearly here on the Central Coast, which means the holiday season isn’t too far off! Now’s the time to start thinking about everything we want to do before another year is upon us! High on our list is to visit nearby Paso Robles to experience the multi-acre walk-through installation known as Sensorio.
The Experience
Sensorio is a unique experience that connects art, nature and technology. From internationally-acclaimed artist Bruce Munro, the Field of Light at Sensorio is an exhibition unlike any other and is Munro’s largest art installation to date. Comprised of over 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics, this ethereal light experience showcases morphing colors of light, all powered by solar energy, for an interactive art exhibit meant to captivate and inspire. The Guardian has described the Field of Light as “art you feel, rather than art you view.” Further enhancing a visit to Sensorio in Paso Robles is nightly live music plus food and alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
How To Get There
Located just 5 miles from downtown Paso Robles (and close to our sister property, the Adelaide Inn), Sensorio should be on your list of must-dos while visiting the Central Coast, especially since this seasonal light installation won’t be around much longer. The 40-minute drive from Cambria to Paso Robles offers plenty of picturesque scenery. It also makes for an easy and fun day trip from the coast.
Hours & Admission
Sensorio is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm in October and 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm in November, as well as Fridays and Saturdays until 10 pm. Note that inclement weather may cause a cancellation, so be sure to check the forecast in advance. Only 800 general admission tickets are offered each evening, plus 150 VIP tickets (48 hours advanced purchase). The latter includes access to a private VIP terrace and a picnic dinner.
